Academy Awards Movie Reviews: Midnight in Paris

Midnight in Paris is nominated for Best Picture in the 2012 Academy Awards.  It stars Owen Wilson and is written and directed by Woody Allen.  I enjoyed the film and found it whimsical, entertaining and charming.  It follows Owen Wilson in his adventure through Paris meeting creative legends in the 1920′s. Woody Allen is at his best writing and directing another classic that looks back at an amazing era and blends fantasy with reality.

Woody Allen’s films have gotten better recently as he’s devoted himself to writing and directing instead of acting.  Match Point and Vicky Cristina Barcelona proved he did not have to act in successful films.  As an actor, Allen has limited range and his stuttering and neurosis is tedious and repetitive.  But as a writer, Woody Allen is smart, witty, and funny.

The Dictator dumps ashes all over Ryan Seacrest at Oscars

Another Sacha Baron Cohen movie is coming out and that means more crazy antics.  In an instantly classic moment, Cohen came to the Oscar red carpet dressed as The Dictator from his new movie The Dictator.  He subsequently proceeded to accidentally on purpose dump Kim Jong il’s ashes all over Ryan’s tuxedo and proclaiming that he’s now wearing Kim John il.  Seacrest seemed shocked but eventually laughed it off.  Hopefully he can get a cameo in the film at the very least.

New song by Kelly Clarkson – Mr. Know It All

Kelly Clarkson has a new song out called “Mr. Know It All.”  Its catchy, poppy, and classic Clarkson.  Surprisingly, I really enjoy Kelly Clarkson’s songs and I think its because her voice is so good and steady compared to the other teen pop singers.  She may be underrated because she always delivers the hits to mainstream, middle American and never gets involved in tabloid antics.  She has also proven that you can be successful and a great singer without showing skin and resorting to risque behavior.
